There are certain conditions that can force a person to change the attorney who is handling his or her case another attorney. In this article, we are going to look at some of these situations that can cause an individual to switch attorneys.
There is a possibility that the lawyer that an individual has hired to take care of his or her case may fail to communicate important details about the case. It is very important for a person who is currently faced with a court case to always be on the know of every development that happens in the case. This is usually the responsibility of their lawyer since they are the ones have been tasked with the mandate of handling the case. There are some important information that the client should receive from the lawyer in some of them include a major change that has happened to the opponent, change in the times that the court proceedings will take place, deadlines to submit documents or evidence to the court among many other factors. The importance of knowing this information is that the client and the lawyer can brainstorm on the way they can continue with the case. But in the event that the lawyer does not communicate in advance such information to the client and he or she does this constantly, the client can always consider hiring a different lawyer because lack of information can put the client in a risky situation. By doing this, an individual may avoid being caught off guard by the opponent since they and their lawyer who now keeps him or her informed may come up with ways to handle certain developments.
Another event that may lead to a person having a different lawyer handling their case is if the lawyer who is currently handling the case refers the client to a different lawyer. This type of situation can happen where their lawyer that is currently handling the case for the client cannot be able to go on because the case has shifted to an area that he or she does not have the expertise. This usually happens all the time because lawyers usually know what they can do and if a situation arises that is way beyond their knowledge it is always a good practice if the lawyer refers their client to one that is able to advance the case for. Therefore, when such things happen the client should understand that things are not the same and should, therefore, maintain a positive attitude even when referred to another lawyer even though terms of the agreement may change.
